AVOCA , ST ARNAUD, NULLAWIL & SEA LAKE

We left Ararat this morning and headed towards Avoca, a small town in the Pyrenees Shire with a population of about 1,200. It was a lovely drive (apart from the wind) as we drove between the mountains of the Grampians and the Pyrenees...such a pretty drive.
Gold was first discovered in Victoria here, in the Pyrenees mountains of 1849.

They have a lovely free camp in town by the river...we didn’t stay as we had a few more towns to see but I found this lovely home beside the river.....

Would loved to have seen inside....
So next town was St.Arnaud...another small town in the Wimmera region...old pubs...and old town halls...

The sky is a great indication how cold it was...so a quick walk around the town, back in the warm caravan, made some lunch and off again..

We drove through a few more older towns, Donald, Wycheproof, and a little place called Nullawil...

Another great piece of Silo Art .......loved it!

Then....on to Sea Lake...and more Art Work!

Just in awe as you stand in front of these stunning pieces of art. Just the logistics of it all is amazing....and the end result...standing there and taking it all in.

We are staying at a small “caravan park” provided by the council...$10 @ night...and moving on in the morning.

It’s been another great day....loving this life!

And found this little bit of wisdom from Wendy... in a shop window in a tiny town.....

On ya Wendy!!!

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

We left Bacchus Marsh yesterday for about 5 weeks while we wait for a short hospital stay in December.
It was sad saying goodbye to our family, but they now have their “tennis court” back for a while :)

We have decided to head back up to Mildura to see more family...(and maybe get a bit of warmer weather )

The wind has been horrendous....and driving into it isn’t much fun....but we have been  crisscrossing our way across the North/West of Victoria.....visiting all the small towns that we haven’t been to for many, many years.

Yesterday we stayed the first night at Ararat. We’d stopped the night on the way down, but this time we unhooked the caravan and looked around the township.

It’s a lovely old town,  very pretty old homes with gorgeous gardens.

These pretty flowers were growing out on the street...but those spikes were so painful...that will teach me to touch flowers!

And we went to the botanical gardens...

And came across a shade house of beautiful orchids...my Dads favourites....

And we loved all the old buildings...

The man at the information place said this tour was quite gruesome....so decided against that!

It was a lovely day exploring Ararat....
