FINCH HATTON GORGE

We are so excited!!

We have just arrived at a gorgeous place called Finch Hatton Showgrounds.
We’ve come about 60klm inland and it’s so nice to be off the main highway.

Surrounded by mountains and so peaceful.

There is a gorge walk that we went to check out.

There are a number of creek crossings that we have to go through in the car, and we’ve had so much rain, but we have checked them out and all looks good for tomorrow when we go back and do the long walk to the gorge.

So pretty!!!

More photos to come !!!🌴🌴

MACKAY

Arrived in Mackay and found a small caravan park that we had heard about called ‘MyCow”
Silly name, and I thought maybe they had a pet cow out the back, but unfortunately, it was named because of the abattoirs down the road so the park manager told me!!
‘Oh yuk’ says I .... then he changed his mind and said MyCow stands for ‘my camp on wheels” which sounded much better.

So.... we arrived and it looked ok, started setting up... the people parked next to us said hello and looked like they had been there a long while, their dog came over for a pat, I went about my usual setting up chores and promptly stepped in a great pile of runny dog shite.
I was not happy!!!!
I don’t mind dogs...but don’t let them roam around and poop everywhere.

Ed was outside about an hour later, the dogged pooped again near our van to which it’s owner came over a scraped it up... bugger me if the damn dog did it again another hour later!!!
Well I did my lolly....I had had enough.... and the owners realised it.
I never saw the dog again!!! Or the owner!!

We went for a drive a found a lovely spot called Blacks Beach.

Not a soul on the beach and then spotted this little oddity in the distance

It was a baby coconut with shells attached.
I wanted to take it home but thought it might get a bit wiffy.

This photo is of the back of our caravan in the park.
The was a tidal river running at the back where Ed threw in a line but caught nothing.

We stayed two days in that caravan park and it was two days too many.... couldn’t wait to get out of there.
That’s why we like to bush camp...

This photo was back from the Gin Gin showgrounds ..... this kookaburra would wait on the fence for me to give it some mince steak. Spoilt kooka 😊
