TAREE N.S.W.

We moved on from the Showgrounds here at Wauchope …..and drove a massive 75 km south to Taree.

We had never been here before, and after reading really good reviews on our travel bible “WikiCamps” …..we decided to give it a go.

We were at Wauchope for a total of 10 days, and I think 8 of those days it never stopped raining!!
It made it very soggy underfoot, but we managed to get out into the car and have a look around the area.

We found a small town called Kew, and found that its claim to fame was the big AXE.

Very random and really have no idea what it was about but a photo was needed.
Apparently if you stood way back, held your tongue in the right position, it looked like you were actually holding the thing up in the air.
It was starting to rain, so didn’t attempt that.

We really wanted to go to this lookout…..but was told the road was washed out, so maybe next visit.

North Brother Mountain……obviously they took that photo on the best day.

So from there, we crossed the highway and went to Port Macquarie again to see if the crowd had packed up and gone home with all the rain.

But the cyclone was still around, and the so were the millions of tourists..So with mask on we quickly retreated back home.
These rocks go for miles along the breakwall and every one of them has been painted.
Some are just of the families that have visited the town, some are just a bunch of friends that have got together and painted a rock and a lot are about loved ones that have passed away.  You just cant read them all….there’s hundreds and hundreds of them.

So that’s Wauchope done and dusted for a while……now its Taree’s turn to have the eyes picked out of it.

Taree Showgrounds.

What a beautiful place this is!  One of the cleanest, prettiest, friendliest Showgrounds we’ve come across.

‘’The lady that greets you, Lorraine, is so helpful and very friendly. Her and her husband Garry,  travel in their motor home full time, and have stopped for a while to become the caretakers.

We originally booked in for 3 nights, but we will extend our stay..thats  for sure.
It’s $20 dollars a night for power and water, the toilets and the showers are immaculate.

Look at that sky….haven’t seen it so blue for a long time

So we have settled in, and we did a bit of exploring this afternoon.
I will do another post tomorrow as it takes so long to download…..or upload….whichever way it goes 🤣🤣🤣

Stay safe everyone.xxxxx
