GRIFFITH AGAIN

We travelled on the Burley Griffin Highway after leaving Ariah Park, through some lovely small towns like Mirool, where they have a competition to see who can kick a footy over the huge wheat silos. We went one year to see that, what a great day that was....the Aussie country people sure know how to throw a snag on the barbie! The competition was open to Men, Women & The Kids. There is a local family in the area that do well every year....such a lovely family, and of course the wife won!!!

That's one big kick to get over them!!!!

Then we went through Ardlethan, it's claim to fame being the birthplace of the Kelpie Dog.

The Kelpie is the Australian sheep dog, great for droving sheep, cows and goats!

We followed the rail freight line that hauls the wheat, right through to Griffith. We decided to 'be civilised 'and book into a caravan park instead of bush camping. Don't really know why, because the caravan park looked no different to the bush.....no grass anywhere!
But that didn't matter.....we hadn't been here before, and we wanted to be able to leave the van safely, being that we were in a big city, normally it wouldn't matter being in a bush town!

It's a nice town, no traffic lights, just roundabouts, which make the traffic flow so much better. The area is full of wineries and citrus fruit, and we were lucky enough to see the tail end of a festival they gave every year with citrus sculptures.

It's a wheelchair.......

Cinderellas coach....

And I think this next one is me.............

There were many more....but won't bore you.....but they are all real fruit, all stuck together with thick rubber bands......oranges and grapefruit....very clever....

Mark called in to see us in the caravan later in the afternoon then we went out for dinner that night......his shout! ......what a terrific son we have......

We went to the RSL club for dinner and their special for the night was chicken Parmy, all different ways.... Mark & Ed had the Parmy with avo, ham & cheese, I had the all you can eat salad bar which was so yummy. I had some of Ed's Parmy and it was so nice.....worth going back to Griffith just for the food!!
We were going to catch up with Mark again the next night, but he was flat out driving all around the area, and so busy, we caught up with him this morning for breakfast being that this was our last morning before moving on again.
He travels back to Canberra tomorrow then flies back home to Tweèd for the weekend. It was great to catch up, we will see him again when we get back to Tweèd.

It rained the last day, so didn't do much, but we will come back again, as there is a 'hermits cave' I want to visit. The weather was too warm the first day, and too many joe blakes (snakes) this time of year, you have to hike through the bush to see where the man actually lived and what he carved out of stone, so better when the weather is much cooler........and the snakes are asleep!!!!!🐍🐍🐍
