HAT HEAD NATIONAL PARK & SOUTH WEST ROCKS FROM KEMPSEY
Another beautiful day, weather wise and travel wise.
Heading to South West Rocks, I spotted a turnoff to a Lighthouse. Never one to miss an opportunity to see a lighthouse, I did a “U turn” and followed a small winding road, through beautiful tree ferns and eucalypt trees and came out into a car park at the top.
We climbed a couple of steps from the car park and this is what greeted us.
Captain Cook’s Lookout....
All these photos don’t do these views justice as they truly are just stunning.
Also this photo just didn’t even look how steep that lighthouse was away.
But I was determined to do it..
So we climbed......luckily there was a handrail to cling on to....and with my tongue hanging out, we made it to the top!
****** Forgot to add....we did see whales heading south....but just too far out for me to photograph. 🐳🐳🐳
And the view going down those stairs, which was just as hard going down..
On the left are the cottages that you can rent out, as as we got closer, in the front garden in the shade of the bushes were 2 kangaroos having a rest.
They are hard to see in the shade, but I saw them standing from a distance and they were very tall. There’s a lady sitting at a table just right of them so they must be very tame.
So I collapsed back in to the car and drove back down the mountain and on to South West Rocks.
Sorry about the beach photos, but this was another beautiful spot and we won’t be seeing the beach again for a very long time......so just sucking in all that sea air!
First we went to the Trial Bay Gaol.
Perched on top of a hill with another lovely outlook to the sea.
Then on to the town for a much needed coffee and for a bit of needed sustenance .....a banana muffin.....We deserved it after that big climb!😉😂
South West Rocks is another gorgeous sea side village. We loved it here.
The beach was so clean and it would be great to swim in there as it’s in a protected corner.
So we are now back at Kempsey, packing up ready to head off tomorrow for more travels.
We’ve had a lovely four days here at the Showgrounds, and Kempsey has turned on the weather for us while we explored the area.
Stay safe everyone. ❤️❤️
