KARUMBA
It’s called the outback by the sea.
It’s a lovely small fishing village really, very very isolated, but the local fish shop has the best Barramundi I’ve ever tasted.
Down at the waterfront is quite nice, but you must not go near the waters edge because of the crocodiles.
Fishing is the main concern here with a very big fishing co op.
We went out to the Barramundi hatchery and watched a great little video of the indigenous and what fishing means to them and listened to the locals talk about their time here and what happens in the wet season when they are all isolated here. My hat goes off to these people as there’s no way I could do it.
Ed “catching” his dream fish! :)
There’s a nice pub out on the point where you can watch the amazing sunsets they have here.
So we bought fish and chips from Ash’s fish shop and waited for the sunset.
It was magic!
A beautiful end to our lovely time in Karumba.
