TINONEE NSW

It was another overcast humid day, with intermittent showers. We’ve had quite a bit of rain, and the Showgrounds here are getting a bit squishy underfoot…..but we are still loving it here so we paid up for another week.
At $140 with power and water, clean amenities and lovely hot showers at this time of year……it’s the perfect place to be.😉

We went for a drive today as Lorraine, the caretaker, told me about this lovely small town with a lookout that was nice and close…….(and on tar roads 😊)
Lorraine is a wealth of knowledge as she used to live in the area before moving up to the Northern Territory. They also live in their motor home full time and travel.

So off we went to find the small village of Tinonee.

It’s a small village on the banks of the Manning River, with a population of 730.
It was founded in 1854 and was formerly a major river port town, with industries of farming, logging, timber milling and broom making….as well as ship, building.

Ships built here were known to be taken to sea through the entrance at Harrington.

There’s also a walking trail where you can see all the local points of interest like the museum and jail etc but unfortunately, due to virus, nothing is open.
It’s nice though as you can wander around without the crowds being as it school holidays.

These are carved out of old tree stumps.

Further down the road through beautiful farm land we came across
Brushy Cutting Lookout.

We were up so high, and once again the view was just lovely with the Manning river just below.
It was so quiet and peaceful up there.

Another lovely day had. The weather is suppose to brighten up a bit in the next couple of days, so a day at the beach will be nice.

We have a few more drives to do to different towns, and more waterfalls to see inland.
I can’t believe we haven’t explored this region before, but that’s the upside of the virus….because of border closures, it’s just made us explore more locally, so that’s something to be thankful for.

Stay safe everyone ❤️❤️❤️
