BUTE

Left our lovely town of Wallaroo and drove a whole 40km to the small town of Bute that was proclaimed as a town in 1884 and named after the Isle of Bute, Scotland.
It has a population of 268....and have already met quite a few people as they are all so friendly here.

Our little “caravan park” with 6 sites (power and water) is right next door to the local post office. You pay your $20@ night there and the lady gives you a code to get in to the laundry (free very clean washing machine) and the code gets you into a huge old hall.....complete with piano...and yes Ed played chopsticks....and in that hall are the ladies & gents toilets and showers, which are immaculate.

The brickwork in this old building (complete with church pews in case you have to wait for the loo haha) is so lovely.

So a walk around the town shows you how they are trying to keep the town pretty so that people will stop for the night...or a couple of days as we will.

All the lamp posts are painted with different animals...

The Heritage centre where some low life stole the old wooden donation box that some old chap had built many years ago and was so sentimental for the town.
Honestly there’s just no words.....

The one and only shop.....but sells everything.....including toilet paper...

Public loo that depicts the town as it used to be many years ago..

This old railway line used to serve as the track for the tourist train that used to run between Bute and Wallaroo...but unfortunately doesn’t run because of the tourist decline.

And on our walk just outside the town is a small fauna park.....run by the Lions club....but unfortunately the animals had all disappeared....another example of the lost tourist trade....but they did have a few Emu’s....(which scare the living  💩 out )of me....

I put my phone up against the fence so you wouldn’t see the wire and this happened......

That was enough for me....I bolted!

So tomorrow we will take a drive to Snowtown...(which you may all remember for all the wrong, horrible reasons...I think a film was made about it all as well)...which is about 25 km away as it has a few nice things to see..

Toilet paper included......lol
