JOURNAL 19Th JUNE โ€˜20

Well another month has gone by since Iโ€™ve made an entry to this blog.
We have been here in the caravan park at Tweed now for nearly 3 months, and thatโ€™s the longest weโ€™ve sat still in one spot for a very long time!

When we arrived here, there was a total of 27 caravans. Three months on and there would be triple that now......if not more!
Since the easing of travels....and the supposedly opening up of the Queensland border......there are quite a few vans waiting to make the dash through the NSW border and in to QLD.....they will be lined up at the boom gate to get out!!

Not really sure about us though as now the Qld Premier does not want Victorians    to enter her state as Victoria have had a spike in CV cases. So being that we have Victorian number plates on our car.....we might not be allowed in. We'll have to wait and see ๐Ÿ˜ข

Itโ€™s really not a bad place to wait..the weather is lovely......but would much rather be travelling.
Until then...Iโ€™ll finish our tour of the caravan park..

Across the road from the park is the Tweed River. Every night we see the fishing boats going past and out to sea.....and if we are lucky ( and up early enough) we get to see them return with their fresh prawns and fish.

Itโ€™s a lovely spot and thereโ€™s a little pier where we have fished from a few times.

These next few photos were taken a few years back now when the Grandsons, Byron & Noah, used to come over to the park and go fishing with their Grandad.

Hooking up their fishing rods....

Parrot fish....how pretty....too pretty to keep so back in it went..๐Ÿ™‚

And a photo of Byron....
When he needed his bike tyres pumped up...he always knew his Grandad would be able to help with his air compressor....and it was so handy as he just lived over the road. ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ

The Tweed River...

Itโ€™s a pretty spot.

So back in the caravan park.....

This is the camp kitchen. Thereโ€™s been many a sausage & onion cooked on these electric hot plates and many a beer, bullshit  and a camping and travelling story told around those tables ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

On a side note**
One very stormy night....we were sound asleep in the caravan when we heard this almighty bang. It was so frightening as there was one of our summer storms raging around us at the time. Looked out through the window, couldnโ€™t see anything, looked around the van...all good ...so went back to bed.

****(Just over the fence there is the Tweed Heads Fire Station and They have a very tall pole that dries their hoses)
So in the morning, we were told that lightening had hit that pole, travelled down the pole in to the ground, travelled along underground....and had come back up and made a huge hole through the thick concrete at the camp kitchen!!!
It had gone right past our caravan......and thank goodness it decided to explode through the concrete in the camp kitchen and not through our van! It shook our van though. And it shook us as well! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

This is the exercise area.....roped off because of the virus...

And the play area...also roped off at the time of taking these photos , but both the exercise and play area are now open.
They have just put that blue shade over the whole play area which is much better as it was so hot in the summer holidays.

These metal plaques are dotted all over the caravan park....they are all different, with all different little poems about the park. They had little cement animal statues sitting on the rocks.....but unfortunately...over the years they have been damaged..... but as you can see on the bottom...they were made in 2001...

I will finish this instalment  with the wise owl...and a lovely rainbow.

That is our caravan in the forefront....and right in the middle of the photo is the pole at the fire station that was struck by lightening.....very very frightening! ๐Ÿ˜‚โšก๏ธโšก๏ธโšก๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ
Love that rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ
