BLACKBUTT QLD
BLACKBUTT is a small rural town in Queensland with a population of about 850 people.
Gold was discovered in the area in the late 19th century, and the timber played an important role in the development of the town.
The town is named after a Eucalyptus Pilularis, commonly known as Blackbutt, which is one of Australia’s most important hardwoods.
Tennis great Roy Emerson was born on a farm near BB and attended Nukku State School which now houses the Roy Emerson Museum.
We are staying at the Showgrounds for a couple of days. The rainy weather has followed us from Beachmere, which is a shame as it would have been nice to get out and look around the place.
Every small town has “their local”
Black skies and flies !
It’s a nice enough town……. but they allow dogs, (which most Showgrounds do) and we don’t have a problem with that at all……. but this would have to be the WORST Showgrounds we’ve been to as the owners of these dogs do not pick up their poo 💩💩 which must be why there are so many flies!!! Yuk!
There should be signs everywhere, or be told when they book in to pick up the poo!!
We will definitely not come back to this horrible Showgrounds! This is why we never pay for more than a night or two at a time…….you never know what you might encounter !!! 😡
Never mind, we leave in the morning…..and we are always looking at the map as we have this habit of changing our minds from day to day as to where the road may take us. That’s the beauty of being retired and living in our van. 😊😊
Oh……and it was “ Pancake Tuesday” at our place today….
What else is there to do on a rainy day….especially when someone else cooks for you as everything always tastes better .
Yum….coconut pancakes. ❤️❤️
Take care everyone 💖💖
