MORVEN QLD
We left Mitchell today and headed about 80 km west to Morven that has a population of about 200 people and a 102 houses for sale in the surrounding area 😂 if anyone is interested. 😉
They have a small display of machinery and also this Kerosene Hut from the 1930’s Great Depression. (This one’s not for sale 😊)
All made from old Kerosene tin cans.
Morven is thought to be named after a mountain and town of the same name in Scotland. Captain TJ Saddlier and his wife arrived in the area in the 1860’s and camped on a deep waterhole.
We are camped alongside that creek in a recreation ground ……(.the trees in the background are where the waterhole is)
Powered sites, hot water for showers and toilets that are cleaned daily by the council. I bet the Captain and his wife would have enjoyed all that luxury😊
The grounds are completely fenced with a cattle grid at the entrance to keep out the kangaroos and emus. 😂
You can walk into the small shopping area where we bought a few supplies…..one of which was an ice cream to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary…..a Golden Gaytime ice cream in fact. 🤣🤣
Even the local toilets are painted…
And there is a dirt road outside the oval with a plaque thanking the local mailman and his family.
These people in the outback are so dedicated in all good, and bad times, and all sorts of weather. Tough as nails. 🧑🌾
We love the outback and reading about all the different people that made such a difference to their community and beyond.
Stay safe ❤️❤️
