PORT WAKEFIELD

Just realised I’m a day behind! Nothing new for me really!!

So now we are in Port Wakefield. Not really a port as such...but we are situated on the River Wakefield, which flows in to the Gulf St. Vincent.
It’s a major stop on the Adelaide to York Peninsula and Adelaide to Port Augusta crossroads.
The intersection is notorious for road accidents and major traffic delays, especially at the end of holidays and long weekends...so we are lucky it’s neither of those!

Port Wakefield is mostly know for its roadhouses and trucking stops.
Travellers between Adelaide and any of the Flinders Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Eyre Peninsular or the Nullarbor Plains, will have likely travelled through here.

So in other words....it’s bloody busy!

Really the only reason we are here, it’s hot, and we have booked in to a caravan park at Point Turton...Yorke Peninsula for tomorrow! And we are excited!!
We are booked for a week...so far.. can’t wait! Haven’t seen the sea for a while!

Anyway back to Port Wakefield...

Right on the river....

Street art..

And some Aussie Humour.....definitely made me look twice....

Someone front yard....

Looking for fish.....

That’s it for now....it’s 36 degrees and climbing...but it’s lovely and cool in the caravan.

TARLEE

Today we drove on through the hills and found ourselves a nice stop in the town of Tarlee. It’s a very tiny town, with a motel..

Ye Old Buttery 1800’s

A nice old coffee shop that had the best coffee and cakes...that we just had to try....and an old secondhand music and furniture shop. That was about it!
Oh and of course a Bowling Green....which was so nice to stand and look at as they were watering the greens.....being that it was a very hot night, made it quite cool standing there...( the one and only reason I was standing there! :)

Houses were nice

That tree was such a beautiful shade of pink...so pretty!!

Sunset from our camp. It cooled down once the sun set so it was a lovely evening and a great end to another great day.
