WONDAI QLD

From Nanango, we drove up towards Murgon intending to stay there for a day or two, but when we arrived, we found our usual stopover had been fenced off by half, and it was full. There were a lot of permanent people in there that obviously needed to be there more than we did, so next stop was Wondai, which was only 14 km away, and we are so pleased we came here.

It’s a lovely small town that is classed as RV Friendly, which means it welcomes all Recreational Vehicles to stay in the town by providing free parking, water and toilets, and we are also lucky enough to be provided with clean, hot showers, and best of all……our camp is right in the town! So no need to unhook if you don’t want to.

Sometimes they ask for a donation, or like this one, just spend money in the small town.
We are happy to do that, as we always need groceries, medications from the chemist, and Bits and Bobs from the tourist information place & news agency.

Plus Ed went for a walk to the local club, The Diggers Club, intending to have a play and donate….but instead walked away with more than what he went in with. So more shopping needed tomorrow and will pay it back 🤣🤣

All these small towns are on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, which is currently the longest rail trail in Australia.
The 161 km Trail follows the disused Brisbane Valley rail line and winds its way through the picturesque rural settings and country towns.

So this is the rail trail, which we are parked right next to, (and it also takes us right in to the town to shop) so we see people riding past that say hello, people walking with their hiking boots on and tents in their back packs as they are also encouraged to pitch their tents and stay overnight as well.

It’s so nice, and all of the campers are so friendly, as are the people that live here….as it brings income into their town.

We went to the tourist info centre for a look as we were told it had a good display.

These men were so bloody life like….even to the hairs on their arms….in fact we were waiting for them to move…😳😳😳

This is quite a bit different to what we are sleeping in…..😳
These were all behind glass and you pressed a button and it told you a story about the hard times these blokes went through as well as some very Aussie humour, so funny. We had a lovely time in there and we were the only ones in there which was nice.

And the pub that time forgot with its corrugated bar and light shades which is the inside of this pub in town.

Evening skies are lovely.

We are staying here for a few more days as there’s more to explore, and it’s one of those friendly towns where you don’t want to leave .🥰

Take care everyone. XXXX❤️❤️
