ELLIS BEACH
Time has come to leave our lovely caravan park at Cairns for more travelling. We loved it there but its exciting to be on the road again..
We didn’t have to drive far....only about 50klm on the lovely Captain Cook Highway, but being Sunday, all the weekend warriors were on the road travelling north with us as its a spectacular highway that follows the oceanfront.
Motor bikes love the twists and turns of the road.
We are now at a lovely little park called Ellis Beach halfway between Cairns & Port Douglas.
Its not very big, but its very very popular with the southern people that like to escape the cold winter.
As soon as we set up, first things first....off to the beach to look for shells!!
Not sure if I have mentioned this but you cant swim in the waters up here as there are lots of different stingers in the water. They range from a nasty sting, to a potential death for some people. They put out stinger nets during the summer months so you are able to swim in the enclosure that is netted off.
They then reel the nets in during winter months and you are able to swim in the ocean then. Just watch out for crocodiles though!!
Bugger all that......my toes don’t even touch the sea up this way!!
So Shelling it was to be!!
These pictures are of the caravan park....
And these next few are of the beach. It was very stormy looking but we didn’t get any of it. It’s very tropical weather....warm and humid.
And yes I did get a bag full of shells.
When I get the time I’m going to make a twine hanging thingy full of my shells collected. Well that’s the plan!
Even Ed knows to keep his eyes peeled for “special” shells with holes in them.
What a great hubby x

A very ugly piece of wood washed up, but a haven for hidden shells..
Tomorrow we are back on the road again, travelling North and heading to a place called Wonga Beach where we have booked a couple of nights there..
