NANANGO

Thought I had better update our last two days here at Nanango as we move on in the morning and not sure if we can get Internet service. I really don't want to have to do another week of 'catching up' as the old brain doesn't like to be taxed too much!

So we have had two days at Nanango in a great little caravan park called Twin Gums. The owner/operator Marion, would have to be the nicest, helpful lady I have ever come across in a caravan park. Nothing was a problem.....we could arrive when we wanted.....usually the times are in by Lunch time...out by Ten in the morning....but not here!

The park is in a bushland setting, but close enough to walk into town. There are Lorikeets to feed ( the same birds we fed at Urunga with the bunnies), the Kangaroos come in about dusk, sorry I couldn't get the camera quick enough.

Yesterday we went into Kingaroy where all the peanuts and navy beans (baked beans) are grown. I thought we may have been able to go on a tour through the 'nut factory' 😋 but alas you can't, but they did have a very informative presentation at the tourist info centre.

Peanut Company Australia...

My camera was unable to capture all of the silos, but they really do make an impressive site towering above Kingaroy. Queensland grows 98% of the nuts in Australia.

This was just too cute....

Just part of the displays about nuts and how they transported back in the days.

Ed found someone to yak to but she wasn't listening.....typical woman he reckons!

Today we went to see a house I read about called Ringfield House.

Now I just love all things old.....especially houses! The way they were built back then just makes them so impressive.

Sorry if I bore you here but I couldn't get enough of the place and its history.

This is the entrance hall to this beautiful Queenslander. In my opinion, the Queenslander is the most beautiful house ever built here in Oz.

This next photo is the impressive master bedroom.....

The dining room has the original restored  side board that was built-in to the wall when the house was built back in 1908. Really photos don't do any of it justice.....but I have it in my memories......

I warned you.....on it goes......the maids room...

The maternity ward room...

And these next ones are outside.....

Grandaddy with the fire truck

The Church and School House..

So that's it....promise......tomorrow we take off to make more memories........

BEYOND BENARKIN

We now have Internet back, so time to update! So, because it's been over a week, I need to remember where we have been!!!

So we left Benarkin after a couple of enjoyable days there. We met a lovely elderly couple there that had been on the road for 12 years after selling up all that they owned, great life!

Ok...so our first stop was a small town called Moore. Not much there really, just some old buildings and there was a place where you could camp with free power provided. As I think I have said, as we have solar power, we leave the power for people that really need it.....we just need to keep our tanks full of water, and unfortunately,  there was water there, but 'non potable' which means non drinkable.

This is the local Fire Brigade Hall.....strange bloke....the one on the right! Not sure what he represents!

Then from Moore, we headed along North again, through the forest and found a lovely small town called Murgon.

The local community and council, have opened up a small caravan unused caravan park. You go to the local information centre and pay a small deposit for a key to the amenities which are so clean and you can have a lovely hot shower.
Once again there is no power, but plenty of fresh water, so we stayed here for a couple of days and spent our money in the town.  Near the amenities block, there is a locked box where you can put all your receipts from your spending in the town and they are collected and tallied every month. So the town certainly know that all us grey nomads appreciate what the town provide.

So from here, we went for a few small day trips.....this one is Joh Bejelke Peterson Dam. Joh was Queensland's premier. Flo, his wife, is famous for her pumpkin scones!!!

Went to another town called Yarrum......

Then after we left Murgon....we stopped at Wondai in a small camp ground that was built for the travellers with lovely hot showers provided.

The Information place was an interesting place. They make a lot of furniture there and it was so nicely laid out...

The displays were so life like....

And I took a photo of a small bottle tree....they get huge...but this was a baby one....but while I was taking the photo....I got swooped by a *#*#*# magpie!  I know they are protecting their babies this time of year, but it's not like I'm going to climb the damn tree to get at them!!!

So that's about it .... I'm nearly up to date...until then.....
