HARRINGTON
Beach day today ☺️
We were going to go into the mountains once more, in a different direction and go to another waterfall.
Did the right thing first this time, I rang the New South Wales Parks & Wildlife to check the road conditions.
Told him where we wanted to go, and he said, “well as far as I know all the roads there are open”
That really wasn’t good enough for my liking …….going on previous attempts to navigate those mountain roads.
So the beach it was. ( It really wasn’t a hard choice )
We went to Harrington, and from there we continued on to Crowdy Head.
We’ve been there before, that’s where the lighthouse is, but we hadn’t walked along the beach.
It was a beautiful day and the water temperature was so nice. It was also nice to see the mountains in the background.
We had never taken any car on the beach before, and there were so many cars already on this beach, we decided to give it a go in our car. That’s what the car was meant for. ☺️
I had packed a lunch, and there was a very popular beach cafe, so bought some homemade potato cakes (potato scallops as they are called up here) and got the car on the beach and had our lunch.
Must say, those potato scallops were the best I’ve ever tasted. They looked horribly burnt when we got them, but they were crispy and so yummy.
It’s was a good day, and as it’s going to be warmer tomorrow, we are going to come back again and try for a swim.
The tide was starting to come in, and we were not sure about getting up the hill we drove down on, so off we went to Harrington.
Had a walk along the rock wall, it went for miles, we didn’t do it all.
It’s a fisherman’s paradise there as it goes for miles and miles of endless beach.
We then found a lookout.
Looking down on the Breakwall.
This is a small graveyard of all the very old Pilotboat men and their wives.
Lots of history there at that lookout.
We had another lovely day with lots of walking. We sleep well 😴😴
Take care 🥰🥰
