MORVEN
Arrived in Morven Monday morning ( I think....lost track of the days!)
We read on our trusty online travel app, Wikicamps, that there was a great stopover here, so seeing that Wikicamps is the travel Bible, here we are!
It's a small town with a population of about 275 people but that was back in 2011 and I suspect with the closure of the very small supermarket, the post office that's up for sale and the one and only hotel/ motel that was burnt to the ground....the population would be considerably less now.
The Dongas that sit empty are also evidence that the once busy town is no more.
In saying all of that, the council and sporting clubs have got together, and provided this great stop over for the travellers as it brings us back into these small towns which means we spend our money on fuel and food....win win!
We have power and water on tap, lovely clean hot showers and well maintained toilets....all for 10 dollars a night!
At the moment we counted 12 caravans that have chosen not to have power and are charged 5 dollars per night and it's standing room only for the people who wanted power. We are a bit crammed in as everyone jostles for 'electricity pole position'..........
That's us on the left with another caravan backed up behind us........
But we don't mind....we all want the same thing....happy travels....😊👍
You can walk from the campground into the little township which is really sweet as they have tried so hard to beautify the place.
Ed was telling me he remembers his dad having these Kero tins at home.
More tin art.....
Clever people...
Forgot to mention this campground has a very large wire fence surrounding it with a big cattle grid you have to cross over to get in with your caravan.....and it's not to keep the cattle out...it's to keep the kangaroos and emus out.....every where you tread in town....you can't help but tread on kanga poo 💩💩
It's all about the bush!!!!
We are here till Saturday then we head off to Augathella 🌞👍
