COOKTOWN Part 4
Well what a difference a day makes! We have sunshine at last. Still windy but we can deal with that!
We went up to Grassy Hill Lookout & Lighthouse.
It was windy enough to blow a dog of a chain...... but so lovely.
That’s looking out towards the river..
The township which isn’t very big...
The sea...
And looking towards mount Cook..
It was lovely up there and once again...we were the only ones there!
We went back into the town area for a walk.... deserted again...strange for a weekend I thought...
This is the dedication statue for Captain Cook who landed here June 17, 1770
And a small termite mound which can get really huge. We saw a lot of them when we went “up the middle” to Darwin one year.
A lot of young travellers spray paint them and they can look so funny, very clever really. Amazing what you see when travelling the outback. It’s a long long road.....you have to do something to break the monotony! ;)
So that was our day. Oh Ed tried to catch a fish, unfortunately didn’t get one and he was assured he would catch one in Cooktown.
I took this photo while he was fishing.... when I looked at it later I couldn’t work out what the streak was in the sky ...???? UFO???
It was Ed’s fishing line!! Glinting in the sun.. :)
