BLACKALL Pt 3
We went to the Ram Park Museum today which is just over the road from where we are staying.
They have a tour every morning for free, but we missed it so decided to just go for a wander ourselves. It turned out that it was better to be on our own and not in the crowds.
This is a “Drovers Wall” with 70 plaques and commemorates over 100 people, all from Blackall who have had a connection with droving over the years.
It celebrates boss drovers, drovers cooks, horse tailers and shepherds who’s names have been recorded for all time, which is a lovely thing to have for all their families.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Here’s another Nugget…
I think this is why we are better staying away from the crowds. ❤️🙄🤣🤣🤦♀️🤦♀️
This beauty was in a paddock at the back of the museum. I called her and she came over to say hello.
Such a gentle girl ❤️❤️
In 1885 Blackall became the first town in Queensland to sink an Artesian Bore, named Pioneer Bore.
The water around these places we have been visiting is from these bores and the water smells like rotten eggs.
It can be quite off putting but it’s ok to drink. Trapped with the Artesian water is sulphur gas.
If you leave the water to stand to allow the gas to escape and chilled, it’s the sweetest, cleanest water on earth……it just stinks 🤣🤣🤣
We don’t drink it but it’s nice to shower in…….no conditioner needed for your
hair!
And more street art….
Done by spray can….
This shop makes anything you ask for out of leather while you wait.
These photos are in the park next door to where we are.
This town is so good as you don’t need the car to see any of these lovely attractions or to get your shopping from where we are camped.
These are made from old 9 kg Gas Bottles.
Beautiful sunsets.
And this last photo is next to the Bakery in the town…..
There’s probably been a bit of bullshit spoken…….but honestly this is one of the nicest towns we have come across.
It’s such a welcoming town, everyone says hello as us travellers must stick out in the crowd.
Small town residents usually know everyone…..and the local old men are always tipping their hats…
It’s a pleasure to do your shopping, put fuel in the car, have a coffee and spend money in the news agency……the local people are always up for a chat. 😊😊
So there’s more photos to come from this lovely town…….I haven’t told you about the Circus that came to town…🤹♂️.🤡🤡🐘🐘🎪🎪🎪🎟🎟…….. or the Masonic Lodge. …….
Stay safe ❤️❤️
Stay safe everyone.
