BALGAL BEACH
Didn’t drive very far this morning, we had this place in mind as we’d been here before.
About 14 years ago, we did this same trip with Mark & family. The boys were only little but they had such a great time finding coconuts along the beach.
So this place held some great memories of that trip.
It’s just off the highway, on a small road towards the boat ramp.
It’s a designated camping ground and you have to arrive as people are packing up to leave as it’s very popular. A lovely older couple were just packing up so saved their site for us
Funny enough it’s just about the same spot as last time we parked here!!
It’s changed a little bit.... much greener and they have done the parkland up nicely.
You have to be careful down by the water as they can have crocodiles sometimes. 🐊
There’s a beach hut that sell food and drink and there’s a small pub as well, being that it’s Mother’s Day, there were quite a few families here today in the park enjoying the beautiful weather.
I didn’t take a very good photo of the hut as I didn’t want to stand there taking a photo of people as some can get a bit funny about it !! But it was packed!!
The beach is just a beach as they all are up this way. As I’ve said, we are spoilt at home, but we are up near the Barrier Reef here.
This photo is of a caged off area where you can swim and be protected from the stingers and Irukandji jellyfish that are extremely venomous.
Jellyfish and crocodiles!!! :)
I did find some lovely shells as I walked the beach so that made my day!!
Someone had taken the time to build a beach hut out of driftwood!
This is the boat ramp. Apparently the fishing is very good here...as long as the crocs and jellyfish don’t get you first!!! Only joking.
So that’s our camp spot for a couple of days... or maybe we will move on tomorrow.... see what happens in the morning.
