Journal Monday 18th May 2020
Well here we are again....another year gone that our beloved Bertie left us. I cannot believe that 5 years have just gone so quickly when it only feels like yesterday.
So l will continue on my journal with a “Dad story” this time.
This is the pool in the caravan park.
Ive never been able to take a photo of this pool without someone being in it...but at the moment..its closed because of the CV.
Normally, its really busy. Summer as you can imagine is always a busy time....Easter....if the weather is still warm which it usually is....busy.....Winter.....well all the brave Southerners get in there.
The slide is always going as well....but not now, and its a strange kind of quiet as usually there’s kids screaming as they shoot down the slide.
The birds love it......and its a constant battle for the park staff to keep the ducks out....i think they’ve tried everything and anything....but to no avail.
So when Mum and Dad arrived here in the park, it was summer and it was very humid. Dad decided it would be a good time to go for a swim. Luckily it was a quiet time in the park so he had the pool to himself with just us watching on.
So Dad did the dive in to the pool but didn't realise how deep it was in the middle....and even though he can swim...it had been a long time and he was quite a few years older so didn't really have the co-ordination he was used to back then.
He came up coughing and spluttering and a bit disorientated .....and was in a bit of trouble....so without thinking..we all jumped in to help him!! We got him to the side.....Mum was having the vapours..(she didn't jump in)we looked at Dad....then all fell about laughing. Needless to say....he stayed closer to the edge after that.
This pool has lots of good memories. It’s where all the grandkids learnt to swim.
Ed was the one that always got in the pool with the kids and he loved it.
Kirra and Kailee loved it too....
And before the girls came along....it was Byron and Noah that got to swim in this pool.
Fast forward a few years....
And there’s 3 generations....L>R Noah, Mark, Ed & Byron..
Just had to add this one of Byron going down the slide....he always looked at this photo and said it looked like he was learning to drive a car......which he now does as he’s nearly 20!!!!!
Well that’s been great for me to look back on those memories. I’m really glad I’m writing all this as its something to look back on and sometimes you tend to forget until something triggers off your memories.
So until next instalment ......love you Dad xxxxx
Dad and Michelle...or “Puddin” as he used to call her xxx
