(Temporary Backup) NARACOORTE ,, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Well what a lovely place this turned out to be. We found these Showgrounds on WikiCamps and it had great reviews.....they weren’t wrong!

How could you complain about this beautiful sunrise, green grass, spotless showers & loos...and a lovely caretaker named Helen who was such a character!
And only $22 @ night!

This is the caretaker Helen’s setup. So lovely....she’s been here for 5 years...and what a great job she does.

The town was a little gem with everything that you need and it was only a short stroll from the Showgrounds.
There’s lots of nice cottages to rent for holidays.

We went out to Naracoorte Caves for a look. It was a really warm day, but we found a nice air conditioned cafe and had a delicious coffee & home made scones with homemade jam & cream. We did share a serve as they were huge!

These next photos were taken inside the museum....

This looked like half kangaroo...half koala...apparently these all roamed the country millions of years ago....glad they’ve gotten smaller over time....I’d never go camping!!!

Was so much taller than me!

We did the walk around the tops as all the cave tours were booked out because of the school holidays.
So back in to town, and went to the tourist info place...

And the lady in there told us to go and have a look at the Swimming Lake.

Honestly these towns in the country just amaze me with what they provide.
We have a beautiful place to camp, a lovely town to shop in and then there’s this beautiful safe place to swim for the kids....

It was built by the community..free of charge...it’s lovely and clean as it’s chlorinated. The kids can dive off platforms in the middle and there’s an area for the little kids. It’s even got a lovely sandy bottom.

Even the change rooms are decorated on the outside...and there’s a kiosk that sells everything to eat or drink.

Well done Naracoorte! We will be back again..
