BEYOND BENARKIN

We now have Internet back, so time to update! So, because it's been over a week, I need to remember where we have been!!!

So we left Benarkin after a couple of enjoyable days there. We met a lovely elderly couple there that had been on the road for 12 years after selling up all that they owned, great life!

Ok...so our first stop was a small town called Moore. Not much there really, just some old buildings and there was a place where you could camp with free power provided. As I think I have said, as we have solar power, we leave the power for people that really need it.....we just need to keep our tanks full of water, and unfortunately,  there was water there, but 'non potable' which means non drinkable.

This is the local Fire Brigade Hall.....strange bloke....the one on the right! Not sure what he represents!

Then from Moore, we headed along North again, through the forest and found a lovely small town called Murgon.

The local community and council, have opened up a small caravan unused caravan park. You go to the local information centre and pay a small deposit for a key to the amenities which are so clean and you can have a lovely hot shower.
Once again there is no power, but plenty of fresh water, so we stayed here for a couple of days and spent our money in the town.  Near the amenities block, there is a locked box where you can put all your receipts from your spending in the town and they are collected and tallied every month. So the town certainly know that all us grey nomads appreciate what the town provide.

So from here, we went for a few small day trips.....this one is Joh Bejelke Peterson Dam. Joh was Queensland's premier. Flo, his wife, is famous for her pumpkin scones!!!

Went to another town called Yarrum......

Then after we left Murgon....we stopped at Wondai in a small camp ground that was built for the travellers with lovely hot showers provided.

The Information place was an interesting place. They make a lot of furniture there and it was so nicely laid out...

The displays were so life like....

And I took a photo of a small bottle tree....they get huge...but this was a baby one....but while I was taking the photo....I got swooped by a *#*#*# magpie!  I know they are protecting their babies this time of year, but it's not like I'm going to climb the damn tree to get at them!!!

So that's about it .... I'm nearly up to date...until then.....
