BARCALDINE
Staying over night in the lovely small town of Barcaldine. (Barky..as the locals call it)
Barcaldine played a major role in the Australian Labour Movement and has a population of approximately 1500.
It’s trees in the area are my favourite... Ghost Gums ...and there is a very special one in the town called “The a Tree Of Knowledge”
We have been to Barcaldine many years ago and saw this special tree standing tall and proud outside the Railway Station.
But in 2006 some bastard poisoned this beautiful tree by putting 30 litres of poison on to the roots.
Now the monument stands in its place.
Can you see two men sitting talking? This is the saved trunk of the tree.
It was a beautiful day which made it even more special to see what they had done to bring back the tree.
And then another stunning outback sunset to finish the day.
The changing colours are just mesmerising.....
Thanks “Barky”...
