(Temporary Backup) ATHERTON TABLELANDS QLD
*****This post was done earlier when I had no internet, that’s why it’s a bit out of order*******. Well the sun was shining so we thought it a great day to go exploring the Tablelands of Queensland.
We went back to Yungaburra (where the Curtain Tree was) as because of the rain, didn’t get to explore the little town..
What a lovely little town!! So pretty we loved it..
There are lots of quirky little shops
There are also gorgeous guest houses ....
Then we went on to Lake Eacham....another lovely spot.
“Lake Eacham is a popular lake of volcanic origin on the Atherton Tableland within the World Heritage listed Wet Tropics of Queensland. It was formed 9,130 years ago when molten magma from the Earths mantle rose to the surface and heated the water table. The steam that resulted from the boiling water was trapped underground, until massive explosions signalled its release. Huge-cracks appeared in the ground and the trees that once lathed the mountainside were levelled and burnt. Eventually, after the eruptions, groundwater filled the crater and the trees grew back, creating the tranquil lake used today by families and tourist for recreation.”
It was incredibly quiet here. One with nature again...
Then we went off to Malanda. Another small town, but just as lovely.
Just out of the town we’re Malanda Falls...
So that was our day. It was just lovely, and even though we had clouds, the sun did make an appearance, it wasn’t cold....but the upshot of the rain, is that everything is just so green and the flowers look so pretty. Peoples gardens are just a picture and they take so much pride in their homes in these small villages..
We had a great day....... :) .....again
