WINTON

Moved on today as we have many more miles to go and it’s a long way between towns now.
The roads were so bad today and when we stopped the inside of the van looked a bit worse for wear. My cutlery drawer had to be resorted as everything had jumped about.

So we came to the small town of McKinley....it’s claim to fame being “Crocodile Dundee” was filmed there.

Over 30 years ago!!!!! Couldn’t believe it...shit I’m older than I thought !!

Anyway moving on...

We had a walk around the very small town and came across
The smallest Library in Queensland and it was in the movie but instead of being a library...it was the “tours office” in the movie...

Apart from the movie, McKinlay had a very interesting history.

What a great man!

Just love taking photos of old houses from the bush.

Really interesting town.

We headed off again and are now in Winton.
The town was named in 1876 by postmaster Robert Allen, after his place of birth, Winton, Dorset.
It’s main industries are sheep and cattle. It has a population of only 875
It’s also the birthplace of Waltzing Matilda and First home of Qantas airlines.

We have set up camp at the Showgrounds, (along with quite a few others as the town is packed with travellers and all the parks are booked out....so they call the Showgrounds
“The Overflow” so here we are....overflowing!!

With another beautiful sunset....and no rain out of those lovely angry looking clouds. It’s a very balmy 25 degrees at 8.30 pm.
