MOONTA BAY & PORT HUGHES

We are now at a lovely town called Moonta which forms part of the Copper Triangle of the Yorke Peninsula.

It’s such a pretty town with lots of copper mining history....but I will post more about the place as we are doing a few “touristy” things tomorrow. 

We are camped right in the town at a great spot, that’s once again been made possible by the local council.....with water which is an added bonus....and all they ask for is a donation for the upkeep and water,  which we are more than happy to give.  There are quite a few of us here.....(it’s a huge stop though so we aren’t on top of one another) as it’s a public holiday this weekend in South Aus.

So we unhitched the car and left the van (completely safe) and drove to Moonta Bay.....about 10 minutes down the road....

Look how far the tides go out along this coastline! And the colour!

This is an enclosure for the kids to swim safely....all netted.

They do lots of crabbing here. You buy a special metal rake..and just rake the sand...crabs everywhere.....very popular place here!

Then on to Pt. Hughes....another lovely fishing village as they all are....with another jetty!

Beautiful green grass you don’t see much of here...and the wind off the water is quite strong at times.

These showers are new....and just shows how windy it is, when Ed turned the water on.....

Sorry.....got the doggie poo bags in the shot...lol

We are going to Wallaroo where the original light is now kept....and have been told it’s another place well worth visiting. 

So it was another “good to suck that sea air into your lungs kinda day again!!”
