A LOVELY EVENING WALK
It was a warm evening so went for a walk around the streets of Moonta.
You can go on a Heritage walk, so we found out, but it’s quite a long walk and it also includes driving....so just did a bit of it tonight.
This beautiful old building once included a theatre, but just stands empty now but still chimes on the hour. It looked lovely with the setting sun on it.
Copper was first found in a wombats burrow by an Irish shepherd in 1861.
This Church was massive and another one of the sites on the Heritage trail.
This painting was on a random brick wall. If you get a chance, google this young girls name...Elizabeth Woolcock.....it’s such a sad, but interesting story.
Also the painting below her is of children’s graves....more than 600 children died of Typhoid from impure water here in Moonta....
These stories are hard to comprehend for us now...but these were the hardships these people suffered...so many towns we visit all have such good and extremely sad, historical stories.
After those sad stories we turned the corner to a beautiful garden with these huge dinner plate sized Dahlias....and that’s the happy side of touring around these lovely towns.....the gardens here are just gorgeous.
Another thing about this town.....the size of their TV aerials!!
Earth to Mars...hello.......
Another lovely day...xxxxx
