FORBES NSW

We left Merriwa this morning, winding our way through some very pretty countryside roads.
The canola was out in full bloom, and looked lovely against the cloudless blue sky.

The eucalyptus trees are also out in yellow blossom and the very colourful parrots were enjoying them.

It’s a very green part of NSW, with beautiful homesteads on lots of acreage, with horse and alpaca studs.

We came to a little town called Yeoval and decided to stop for lunch and a wander.
Yeoval has a population of 430 and was the childhood home of Aussie poet Banjo Patterson....of Waltzing Matilda fame.

There is a park called Banjo Patterson Bush Park.

There’s also a giant sculpture of Banjo Patterson’s hat.

Only in Oz....we love our “big things”

And the bloke in the wheelchair ?? I don’t remember Henry being in a wheelchair ? 🤔🤔

Had no idea where he came in to it until I read “you can wander over the road” .....🤣 an advertising trick....no, we didn’t wander anywhere 😉

It was a little bit of a mish mash this park.....as there was also a huge 6 metre high, six tonne abstract artwork depicting sculptor Henry Moore.

Bit weird....I thought it had broken, but apparently thats what it’s suppose to look like. ( Very uneducated )
Henry Moore was an English artist, best known for his semi abstract bronze statues.....so that was a nod to Henry!

Why? I have no idea🤣🤣🤣

Anyway we can always say we’ve been to Yeoval...seen Henry, Banjo & a swaggie named Andy! 👍👍

We drove on and have now pulled up at Forbes in a free little camp beside a very pretty river.

You walk over that bridge (in the background) and it takes you in to the town shops.

I will post more photos of Forbes tomorrow.

Stay safe XXXXX ❤️❤️❤️🌈🌈

Just loved this place and its history. Henry Moore yes his claim to fame was weird, one of those you either love or just shake your head. I am in the latter. Once again I am loving every minute of this road trip, and the bonus I get to know Australia,s history which is so linked to us in UK Bett xx
