OFF AGAIN
Another day of driving through the lovely scenery. We didn’t get very far before stopping at another one of our favourite spots... Benarkin
Benarkin is a very small place. Blackbutt is the nearest town, about 2 miles down the road, and combined have a population of about a thousand people.
Benarkin just has a general store/post office/1petrol pump
It does have a great camp ground with newly built showers & toilets which is considered a ‘free camp’ for travellers.
Instead of paying exhorborent money for a caravan park, a lot of small towns provide these stop overs and call them ‘free stops’ which then encourages people to put money back in to the struggling towns by way of spending money at the shop.
We topped up our tanks with fuel, which cost 50 dollars, so that’s giving back money to the town!!
So we stayed the night, and gosh we’ve felt the drop in temperature coming inland.
It was a hot water bottle in the bed for me!! 😂🤦♀️
So next morning we headed off again and stopped for a coffee at Nanango which is another great town that provides a ‘free camp’ just outside of the township.
We have stayed here before.
Last time we were here it was so hot, so it was nice to be here in the cooler weather.
So after coffee and a walk, we continued on through the hills.
I keep on about these hills and the lovely scenery but coming from the busy coast, it’s such a pleasure to be out in the country. And being autumn, the colours are beautiful.
MURGON
We are staying in a campground that was once run as a caravan park.
The council just ask for a 10 dollar donation and for that you get a key to the showers/toilets and you are able to stay for 48 hours.
When you return the key, your money is returned but we just donate that which is then used for the upkeep of the park.
We woke this Anzac Day to a very lovely foggy morning.
So we are here for 2 days then will head over to the coast.
❤️❤️
