(Backup) ANOTHER TOWN

We reluctantly packed up and moved on from  Toolgoolwah Showgrounds  this morning. We have had such a restful time there, but it's time to travel to new places!

So we headed off in the direction of Crows Nest, you know the road where the lady from the Tourist Information Centre was a good road.....wrong.....it was a terrible road! We crossed over the Great Dividing Range which meant not the gentle rolling hills we were told we would find....we had hair pin curves and a narrow road very high up with the Sunday motor bike thrill seekers hurtling towards us!

Anyway, we made it ok and only had to travel another 50 klm (30miles) before we came to our next camp.

We are now at the Goombungee Showgrounds. Goombungee has a population of about a thousand people and on the weekend it's a stopover for more bikers at the local pub. There's not much in the town, pub, a couple of cafes, museum that's only open once a month but it's a lovely clean town. In October they have a Jacaranda festival that line the streets.
It's very green with lots of parks which is why they call it....

This is our new 'home' for a couple of days.

Another beautiful day although we were told you couldn't get water out of your hose this morning as the water was frozen because of the frost....minus 2 degrees!

Found these public  toilets in the town.... See the face in the bottle tree...
Bottle trees are native to Queensland and the name bottle tree refers to the trunk which can grow up to two meters in diameter. The trunk can hold lots of water, and aboriginals carved holes in them to create reservoir-like structures.. The seeds, roots, stems and bark are are source of food for people and animals. The fibrous inner bark can be made into twine, rope and fishing nets....
