GEELONG
Finally arrived at Geelong.
Our last stopover was at a place called Mortlake, another lovely little town in Victoria. The caravan park was a small one, but perfectly formed!
It was very clean and very tidy and the amenities were nothing like I had seen before!
This was the outdoor camp kitchen. Every night the fire would be lit, so the people using it had a nice warm place to eat and have a chat.
And the magpies were very friendly...waiting outside our door every morning for a
Once again, we were reluctant to leave, but we had to move on and arrived in Geelong and are set up at the Showgrounds once again.
We went down to the beach at point Lonsdale which was my mum and dad's favourite place to watch the boats go through the rip and out to sea. "The Rip" can be quite treacherous at times, but today it was calm. This is where all the boats leave from Melbourne, including the Spirit of Tasmania and make their way out to sea.
They have to be guided through this stretch of water by a pilot boat and I was lucky enough to see it all happen when we got there. The boat was a fuel tanker that coincidentally had left from Corio where my Dad had worked at the Shell Refinery for over 30 years, so it was a bit emotional.
Unfortunately the photo is a bit grainy as I tried to bring it in a bit closer, but that is the pilot boat behind it
So that's it........that's the end of our journey. By the time we get back we will have been away for 3 months. It's been a long time, have enjoyed it, but I think I will be glad to get back for a while. The weather here is cold!
I will post a few more family photos before we leave.....
Went shopping today with the Grandkids.....had fun!
