HAY

Hay is somewhere we have been through so many times when we lived in Mildura. We would have to go through Hay, and across the Hay Plains on our way through to the Gold Coast on our holidays when the kids were younger.

So this time, we decided to stop and smell the roses......and what a little surprise packet...with lots of lovely roses to smell !!
We went to see the old Gaol....

We are staying for about 4 days here as it's such a nice spot, and a short walk in to the 'town'

We are dotted all around the place with plenty of room to set up and not be too close to anybody...

There are four  guys in this little tent...and a dog..they have been here for a while as they are working in the area. We have noticed lots and lots of foreign people around here and back at Griffith....all workers...they really do work hard as we hardly ever see these guys.

Day 3

Washing day today...big day....ummm...took me all of 15 minutes, being that I have a fully automatic washing machine that Ed has hooked up to the solar panels, it's not hard work! ☺️

And of course these lovely legs belong to Ed.....he is always doing something around the van...this job is shortening the exhaust pipe to the diesel heater we had fitted before we left. Stupid weather....fan on during the day.....heater on at night.......

Last night we went to the Info Centre as they provide lovely hot showers there. It saves using all our water....

And today...Ed went off in the car with all our water containers and filled them up with lovely filtered water they provide as well.
Those bicycles you see out the front, are provided free of charge so you can tour the town. Mind you, I asked in the Info Centre yesterday if there was someone who could fix my reading glasses, and she said, "no sorry, the nearest place is either back at Griffith or next town....but it's only 120 klm trip.....only a two hours return" .......so I figure that's why the bikes are free....you wouldn't be riding them very far....

Forgot to say that we are camping along side the Murrumbidgee River, and Hay is in the centre of some of the flattest country on earth. Hay has its own unique Sunset Viewing Area which is about 16 klm out of the town. It has a 360degree view of the sky, so you get to see uninterrupted view of either the sunrise or sunset.......

I remember my Mum used to hate travelling across the Hay Plains, as did we, and the kids...because it's just a huge flat expanse of no trees, no fences, no nothing.....but for me now I'm older, you seem to appreciate things a bit more...especially as how lucky we are to be living in this beautiful, peaceful country......

Saturday...

Being the weekend, all the locals came down to the river with their picnics and speed boats. There was a group down there visiting from Canada.....(I only know that because they all had their Canadian Flag Towels and were speaking French Canadian).....and they were learning to water ski.....what a laugh. Reminded me when we had our boat along the Murray......Ed would yell out...."KEEP YOUR LEGS TOGETHER" and I would die a thousand deaths of embarrassment!!  Same happen with them!

Sunday....

We went in to town this morning for a shower, then to fill up our water containers again before we headed off.....

So off again..........
