A BIG DUST STORM !

Yesterday was a bloody hot day! 42 degrees no less!
And they said it would be windy!.......Well....this is what happened about lunchtime!

A mighty dust storm came from out west where it’s really dry.....

These photos are from the local newspaper...
I went into the supermarket and the sky was blue, and came out to this.....

Lights on in the car ....lunchtime......thick red dust....and find your way back to the caravan!!

It was a shocker...

We’ve seen them before of course when we lived here, but it was a strange sight nonetheless...

It lasted for a couple of hours until the cool change came through and blew it all away...

And so today, after a massive clean up in Mildura .... it was sparkling again...

We went for another lovely walk along the river and came to Rio Vista House....these are the gardens...& House..

Rio Vista was first occupied by WB Chaffey with his second wife in 1892 and lived here until his death in 1926. Hattie, his wife, lived in the house until her death in 1950 at which time the house was purchased by the Mildura City Council for conversion into an Art Gallery.
(WB Chaffey was a key figure in Mildura's history)

All the years we lived here, I never visited this place, but I know the kids have been, as I think every kid that went to school in Mildura did!

So that’s on my list....and they have a lovely coffee shop!

The grounds are beautiful...

Sculptures in the grounds...

Sorry....it’s my “tree thing” ....loved the bark...it looked painted on!

These last photos are of the floods down by the river and the old restored engine pump.

Was kindly pointing out I was one year old then! Thanks!

Strange how when you live in a place you sometimes don’t “see” the place. We lived here for 15 years and didn’t see half the things I’m seeing now....too busy with life back then...now I’m living life!
