BRIM
We went for a drive around the area today and ended up at another little town in the Mallee called Brim on the banks of the Yarriambiack Creek, with a population of about 150. The station homestead, Willowbank, was built about 1870 and is still standing.
The railway arrived in 1893 but the station is no longer standing, but there are large grain silos on the railway site.
And this is another large mural on the grain silo...
There’s a lovely little creek at the end of town where you can park your caravan for a fee with power and water....
And the whole town is surrounded by fields of barley....
We are loving this area....particularly where we are staying....at the beautiful lake at Hopetoun. We are not sure when we will leave as you can stay for a maximum of 30 days and the weather is magic and lots of people to chat to.
We met a nice bloke today that used to live in the area....his dad is still here..93..and they are having a big family reunion....they’ve booked out all the cabins for the weekend....he was telling us that this Lake is fed from a pipeline coming from the Grampians...a spectacular Nature & Wildlife National Park...about 190 km away. Amazing information when you talk to a local..
