COOKTOWN Part 2
Well another day and more rain.....and the wind!...... honestly I’ve never experienced this but you hear it coming before it arrives.....the noise is like a freight train coming down the mountain at top speed.
Being in a cyclone must be absolutely frightening!
The markets were supposed to be on this morning down the waterfront but the weather put and end to that, so we just walked around between the rain.
Found The Singing Ship. You can climb inside and belt out a tune if so inclined to do so.
This photo is on the side wall of the local real estate office.
It started to rain again so we jumped in the car and went to the botanical gardens.
Unfortunately the sky opened up again, but luckily there was a lovely coffee shop!
So what better way to spend a rainy morning......
And they were yum!!
We intended on going up to Mount Cook but decided against it as you couldn’t see the top of the mountain from the bottom so I’m guessing we would be surrounded in mist up there.
We have a lovely couple camped next to us that have waited for years to go on this trip. This is there “long service leave” of two months and they planned to go right up to the top of Australia with their 4 wheel drive camper.
They are with their Mum & Dad as well and they’re not sure what to do with this weather being so bad.
It’s such a shame... so we can’t complain....we don’t have to go back to work.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
******just looking through these photos and it just looks like we are the only couple in Cooktown.....******* ;)
