MOUNT PLACID

Went for a drive to Lake Placid this morning. It’s about 20 klm away and in towards the mountains.
It was a lovely quiet spot with an Italian restaurant overlooking the lake which wasn’t open which meant that we were all alone in the peace and quiet.

As you can see, there is a warning sign for crocodiles, and those signs are everywhere but it doesn’t deter some people......we take note though!!

From there we followed the road up the mountain further to the Barron Gorge.
Honestly this area is just so pretty once you get away from the city....

The Barron Gorge Hydro was up there as well, and I thought blended nicely into the surrounds.

The waterfalls aren’t flowing very well as its considered the “dry season” now but I can only imagine how powerful the water would be once the “wet season” arrives in the summer months..

This next photo is overlooking the bridge and down to some sort of grate....those pieces of wood were huge....you could have built a raft with them.

This next photo is back in the car going back down the range....the big steel monstrosity is to keep the big boulders from crashing down on your car as you drive around the mountain.

Another lovely day had.
