REDCLIFFE DAY 3
I’ve decided to do individual days so then I won’t get mixed up or miss anything..😊
We went for a walk along the waterfront here this morning and came across a tourist information centre..... so went in and was greeted by a lovely lady, full of information and very proud of her Moreton Bay region.
So armed with a literal bag full of information.... off we went exploring !!
First we drove back down the road to Woody Point to find the local shipwreck.
It’s called the HMQS/HMAS Gayundah which served for the Queensland Maritime Defence as a gunboat and then the Royal Australian Navy after federation and was active through WW1. It was used as a training ship.
It’s said to be named after an Aboriginal word for lightening.
It was deliberately beached in the 1950s at Woody Point to act as a breakwater.
It’s not the greatest of photos as you can’t get near it anymore.
Sadly it was vandalised so they have fenced it off. 😥
There’s about 22Klm s of seaside walking tracks from Woody Point up to Scarborough .. and although we didn’t do them all... we did a few 🥵
We stopped for a coffee and and cake here.... it was a carrot cake so very healthy!!
I always ask for a very hot coffee as I don’t like it just warm.....so when she bought our coffee & cake to the table...I took a sip and it wasn’t really hot enough....( I didn’t want to complain as she was a lovely girl)
So we ate our cake and she came back to the table to apologise for not making a hot coffee..(she had re-read our order). and gave us a loyalty card for two freebies next time!!! ☕️☕️
How’s that for kindness!! 🌻
That’s Ed looking out to sea from a window in the amphitheater they have there along the waterfront.
We ended up back at Redcliffe to check out the water front.
This is a man made fresh water pool called Settlement Lagoon.
It’s a lovely spot for the kids to swim safely as they have lifeguards to watch them all the time.
A great spot for families to relax and have a picnic or BBQ.
So that was our day.
Rest day tomorrow 😂😂😂
