(Backup) (Backup) MOURA, BILOELA & GOOVIGEN
We spent a a relaxing 5 days at Moura at the Dawson River Apex Park.
We had no power but were able to use our solar panels and batteries and there was no water but we were carrying enough on board that we managed fine. The township of Moura which was about 5 klm up the road had a few small shops, but they also supplied fresh town water that allowed you to refill your tanks in the caravan at the water treatment plant. So in turn, we travellers would spend money in the town and top up our groceries and diesel which helps keep the small town going.
The water looks muddy as they are in drought but it was still a lovely spot. Oh and in the showers you put a dollar coin in and it gave you 2 minutes of lovely warm water to wash off the dust!
BILOELA
From Moura we went to Biloela. We passed through a very small town called Banana which was strange as there wasn't a banana tree in sight but found it was named after a working bullock that was the colour of a banana and he was used by the local stockman to help herd some of the wilder cattle into the yards.
We stayed at the Heritage centre at Biloela (our third stay there) for two nights.
Great place, clean, with terrific staff.
This was our morning view....
And our evening view....
Ed at the heritage centre.....π
So we stocked up with groceries and on we travelled to Goovigen.
It's a very small town in central Queensland with a population of 287 which I think is a bit overstated as there are no shops whatsoever in the town, but of course has a pub!
Goovigen is an aboriginal word for box tree, a species of eucalyptus. The surrounds of the town are agricultural producing cotton, cattle and grain.
The historical society have provided a small campground with 6 concrete slabs for travellers which also includes power and water, great clean amenities with hot showers....
But you must remember......
Nothing like sitting on the loo and a green frog comes out to say hello when you flush...πππΈπΈ
This poor man fell in the drum..hope someone comes to rescue him!! π³
