FORBES
Woke to another very hot day. Decided to drive a few more kilometres than usual, plus it was nicer in the car with the air conditioning on !!!
So we drove through Dubbo, which is a very large town. We have never really stopped at Dubbo and had a look around, I think we stayed overnight in a motel many many moons ago when the kids were little on our way to the Gold Coast for a holiday.
One day I would like to come back when it's a bit cooler as I would love to visit Dubbos Western Plains Zoo.
So drove through Dubbo, Peak Hill...(I remember staying here one time when the temperature was about 43 degrees....the fridge wouldn't work, neither would the air conditioner....it was just too hot! )
Continued on through Parkes where they have the huge Satellite Dish and the Aussie Movie "The Dish" was filmed. It's a very interesting place to visit.
We had our family with us last time we were there, Mark, Mel, Jake, Byron & Noah. The grandsons were only small but we had a really good time there.
From Parkes we went on to Forbes. We had been there before, but we really love the place so decided to stay for three days.
You can camp right on the man made lake there. We were with about 25 other caravans and motor homes, so it's a very popular spot, and it's all provided by the council for free. We say for free, but by the time we added all what we had spent in the town, it was well over 200 dollars, which is great for the town as the country towns are all struggling with the drought.
And this one was of the Aussie Ute and cattle dogs....
These were a few pictures of the towns old buildings..
