CHINCHILLA QLD.

Chinchilla is a rural town with a population of approx 6,700, located in the Western Downs Region, QLD.

Chinchilla is famous for its Melons 😳……watermelons, rockmelons and honeydew melons……Chinchilla is the undisputed melon capital.

It’s also a great spot for fishing, bushwalking and camping.

They grow their Melons big here!

They have a lovely weir here as well, and back in the last floods, Chinchilla was spared getting flooded, until all the rain came down the river from Warwick, which is about 250 klm away and flooded the town.

The town has spent 5 million dollars to fix their weir and surrounds so the lady in the tourist information centre was telling me, so we went out to have a look, as we hadn’t been out there for about 15 years.

It was so pretty.

It was a beautiful day. You can certainly see where the money was spent because last time we were here, there we caravans and tents spread everywhere in no order, and I think there was one power socket with everyone piggy backing off it to power their caravans.
It was a dreadful fire hazard, but since spending all that money, they now have lots of powered sites that you can drive through without unhitching your caravan. It’s very crammed in though. To close for comfort.

We are staying at the Showgrounds, it’s huge with plenty of room to move, so that’s much preferred for us.

We will see what this weather brings. Take care everyone.❤️❤️
