TAREE TO GLOUCESTER

Today we paid another 4 days (could be more ☺️) to stay here at Taree.

This morning a lot of people left which meant there were only 2 of us left, but that will change.

So a look at the map…..and decided on going up through the hills and on to Gloucester, about 70 km away.

We had spent the day at the beach yesterday and walked for miles, and we got a bit sunburnt (yes we did slip, slop, slap) so thought a day in the cool of the mountains would be ideal.

We packed our coffee and lunch, and headed off down the main highway and pulled in at Nabiac.
We have passed this place many many times on our way from NSW to Victoria, so decided to have a coffee here and a look around.
It had a hippy vibe to it, and also it’s very popular with the motorcycle crowd as there’s a museum of old motorbikes, and the roads inland are ideal winding roads for the weekend motor bike enthusiast.

We found a nice quiet park and had our coffee and kept going, as the little village itself was very busy.

The road was very winding, but not too bad and when we got to Gloucester, we found a tourist information place to ask about the roads and walks around the area.

Unfortunately the main road up to the Barrington Tops was closed, due to floods so that was out.
We did find a small park where we could walk around where it followed the river.
So we had our “fruit lunch” and headed off for our walk.

It was a beautiful place and so quiet apart from the stream.

We dipped our feet in and it was so lovely. The lady at the tourist info centre said we could have a swim, but to be very careful as the river was flowing very quick and it was deceiving.
So a paddle was enough, even though it was so bloody hot.
We didn’t think it would be so hot up in the mountains but the humidity was terrible.

And how’s this for looking after your fur babies….

There’s frisbees, balls…all sorts of toys for your dogs to play with in the park.

The size of this tree was massive and it had been pushed over by the floods, as had quite a few of the trees along the river.

Ed was amazed at this rock ……can you see the face ??
Eye, nose, mouth & teeth??

It was too warm to do anymore walking, so off we went back home in the air conditioned car (after filling up the car with diesel that we found at a small servo that was so cheap
@ $1.59 a litre ….and getting an ice cream 🤫🤫😊😊)
