THE OLD BOTTLEBUTT TREE

This morning we thought we would take a drive out to see this very old tree.

The weather was a bit hit and miss with light rain and sun, but it was still warm enough.

We got on our favourite website “WikiCamps”, and just punched in Wauchope and it gives all the touristy places you can visit.
So we started at the top of the list which was the Bottlebutt Tree, and followed Mr Smooths directions.
( I didn’t know you could change the voices on Siri….so I now have a very smooth English gentleman telling me which way to go….much to Ed’s disgust)

Anyway it was only a 16 km journey, through Burrawan State Forest. Such a pretty drive.
Parked the car and went on a beautiful 600 metre loop
walking track.

We had a shower of rain come through while walking, didn’t get too wet as the tree canopy protected us.

It was so quiet apart from the different birds enjoying the shower of rain.

Then we came to the tree.

Absolutely massive.

Here’s a glimpse of a rare species that hates her photo taken…thanks Ed. I was going to climb it….. sure! 😂😂

It was such a pretty walk and nice to be on our own away from the crowds.
We ended the walk at the picnic area and had a coffee and cake that we had brought with us….

On our way back we stopped at the river in town for a walk.

Not sure if you can spot it but they have had massive floods here with the water getting higher than the rail tracks.
The debris can be seen sitting on the rail.

That’s our day exploring.

More to come….
Take care and stay safe everyone 🥰🥰
