FUNNY STORY… 3 MONTHS ON

I have just looked at my last blog post and cannot believe it’s been 3 months since the last story.

It’s reminded me also about something that happened at our last stop…..Bordertown.

We had a good night there and woke the next morning had breakfast and were packing up to leave when I went to grab my purse/wallet ….and couldn’t find it.

We looked everywhere….and I mean everywhere as the caravan isn’t that big….and took everything out of the car….but no wallet.

I do all the driving, so my wallet is always on my lap. I leave it there as when we get fuel, Ed fills the car up and I have my wallet handy to go in to pay………..
As we did the day before….and I remember it on my lap then.
After getting fuel we drove to a roadside stop and had morning tea….and I thought that maybe…. I had got out of the car and my wallet had dropped on the ground.
Ed had gone around the car and van there while I was making the coffee as he always checks the tyres.
He didn’t remember seeing my wallet and I definitely would have heard it drop.

I was frantic……I pulled everything out of the van and car again…..but nothing.
So all my eftpos cards were gone, licence….cash…everything.

Luckily we had some cash in the caravan that we use to pay for accommodation at Showgrounds etc….just enough to get fuel to get us home.

It was a terrible drive home, I felt terrible, I’d never lost a wallet in my life…..and this particular wallet had everything in it….including my beautiful late Dads pen and his special $5 coin.
Worth nothing to anybody…..but meant the world to me. 🥲🥲

So we got home, unpacked the caravan, had another look around but nothing. The van was empty…….sitting there in our front yard.
I had cancelled all my cards, rang police stations to report a lost wallet, went to the banks to order more cards , went to the motor registration branch to get another drivers licence ….did everything that needed to be done.

I still felt terrible……but….I still felt that wallet with that special pen in it ……was still with me.
I knew it couldn’t be…..but it was so strong a feeling.

2/3 weeks went by, got all my new cards….still looking through the car …..just in case….nothing.

 A month goes by…..

Ed went off to bowls.

I stood looking out at the caravan. I turned and looked at my Mum & Dads photo……and said….where is that pen Dad.?

And that’s when it hit me!

I raced out to that caravan and looked in a cupboard that I had searched so many times.
I had left the kettle and toaster in the caravan……and tucked around the corner behind that little kettle……was my wallet!!

I remember the last night back at Bordertown, we had decided to go for a walk.
It was a free campground we were in, and there were quite a few people there….so instead of taking my wallet…..I hid it in the cupboard.

I did such a great job of hiding it….I couldn’t even find it!

I just couldn’t believe it…..but somehow I just felt it wasn’t lost. It was such a strong feeling.

So I had all my old cards, all the cash…(bonus)…..but best of all I had my special pen back. 🥰🥰

Funny enough…..a week later….the zip on that wallet broke….so I bought a new wallet. First thing in that new wallet …….my pen. 🥳🥳

Just goes to show….never, ever…..give up on what you feel is right.

So we haven’t been able to travel because we’ve had a few border closures in Victoria.
We’ve also had a few lockdowns, so travel has been out of the question. We still have to wear our masks inside shops etc ……..but that’s ok….it’s second nature to us here.

Ed and I have had our first Covid needle….next one is due in September. Fingers crossed it’s a bit easier than the first..
🤪🤪🤪🤪

We have a small trip planned for next week. A four day break.
Will do a post on that when we get home …as that’s a special trip.

Take care everyone……stay safe 🥰🥰🥰😷😷😷 XXXX
