ROBE. S.A. 21.3.21
Robe is another small town and fishing port about 50 km away from where we are staying.
We got there early this morning and the weather was just perfect.
It’s a pretty town with historical buildings, fishing fleets and lies on the southern shore of Guichen Bay.
Being a Sunday I thought it would be crowded, but it wasn’t, so off to the lovely bakery for a well needed coffee and a well deserved cake as we’ve been doing nothing but walking. 😉😉
After coffee we went for a huge walk along the cliff tops. Being that it is the Limestone coast, you just have to be very careful not to go too close to the edge, which of course isn’t hard for Ed because he hates heights.
I cannot capture how beautiful this coastline is. Just stunning!
It reminds me of the stunning coastline at Warrnambool Victoria.
This is taken from the lookout, but we did walk all the way there to the Obelisk.
You used to be able to take your car there in that car park , but they have blocked it off as the coast in crumbling away. That Obelisk is just teetering on the edge of the cliff face and it was quite daunting standing there.
I remember at the 12 Apostles in Warrnambool, one of the Apostles was called London Bridge....and you used to be able to walk across it.
One day it collapsed and there were people stuck over on one half of the bridge.
No one was hurt, but how scary would that be !!!! 😟😟😟
So we didn’t stay long at the Obelisk. It was interesting reading about it though.
Back in the car and a walk around the shops was so nice. There’s a lot of old historical buildings that have been restored and are so pretty.
And then this.....have no idea what it was all about but it provided a bit of entertainment.
So that was our day in Robe. We were very lucky we had such a beautiful day.
Our thoughts go out to all those people up North that have been affected by all those devastating floods. 😥❤️
Stay safe everyone xx❤️❤️❤️
