(Backup) GOODBYE WAUCHOPE
We have had such a great time here at Wauchope Showgrounds and will be hard to leave.... but it’s time for more travel.
We had a fantastic day today.
We went for a drive down the highway a bit and took an exit that said Laurieton.
When you’re driving along the highway you don’t really know how far you are away from the coast as it’s usually all bush and nothing else.
I had read that there was an ‘Ocean Drive’ so that made my ears prick.... We just love the ocean 🐬🐟... and we’re not disappointed!!
What a gorgeous drive it turned out to be.... such a hidden gem.
We went through Laurieton which was a small fishing village on the river, continued on and came to Lake Cathie where the sea and lake meet.
We stopped for a coffee and went for a walk and Ed spotted a bowls club.
They have big balls in Lake Cathie!!
Drove on to Shelley Beach which was also a lovely spot to have lunch.
There was a few bits and pieces that the local resident Harry had made in his day.
Apparently he was the local ‘custodian’ of the beach and was made an honorary ambassador.
Next stop was Lighthouse Beach.
We skipped riding the camels @ $40 each!! 😂
Then we went into Port Macquarie again to stock up on some shopping before heading off.
So we are now at a free camp spot at Wingham.
Another peaceful place by the river.
We’ve been here before and there’s a couple of other vans here with us.
There’s markets here in the morning so will wander down for a look.
❤️❤️❤️
