DURINGA, EMERALD & THERESA CREEK DAM

We left Goovigen after having 5 enjoyable days there.
We packed up, got in the car and whoops......flat battery in the car. That's what happens when you stay put for so long without needing the car!!!

Luckily we had good neighbours, so with jump leads connected, the car started and off we went.

We headed west and came to our next spot called Duringa. Another camp spot we found on our Wikicamps app.
It was a great area once again provided by the local shire with great hot showers that went for six minutes!!....pure luxury!!!

There was also fresh drinking water available which is so important. No power but we have our solar so that's not needed...just water.

We stayed here for another 3 days as there was plenty to walk around and look at. It was another mining town, so now that has ceased, a lot of homes were once again empty. It's a strange feeling, ( I'm sure I've said this) but seeing empty homes with toys and swings just left abandoned is really weird.

So after three days there, we moved on to Emerald.

We stopped for morning tea in a small farming town called Capella.

There are over 200,000 caravans and rv's on the road at the moment so finding a spot can be tricky!!

Moving on to Emerald.....this was only going to be a quick stop over to fill up with more food as Emerald is a big town that we really weren't keen to stop for long....but it wasn't to be so easy!!

We found that we had a leak in our tanks and had lost all our precious water!

So good ole Ed to the rescue, I'm so lucky I have such a handy man! Under the van he squirmed....it's a low van...to find that the bung (stopper) on the water tank had broken. Never mind we think....we are in a big town, someone will sell them....wrong!!!!!
They sell the water tanks, but not the bung to stop the water from escaping....stupid!
So Ed had to glue the bung and hope for the best......it worked!! Yay!!!

We were staying at a free camp at the botanical gardens as we hit Emerald when there was a big caravan expo in town (and no..they didn't sell bungs) and there was no accomodation anywhere. So that didn't matter....the gardens will do.
But....we had to fill our water tanks...all 100 litres of it..... By hand....with a 9 litre bucket....with the tap a long way away....and a funnel.....oh the joys. But Ed did it...and he wouldn't let me help....so I held the funnel !!!!

This is our camp....we had lots of neighbours...we even had the police there as there was a young lady who had been there a while....entertaining a few gentlemen in her caravan 😳

We were under a railway line.....it didn't get used much but we were entertained with a load of cattle at one stage....

Now we are at Theresa Creek Dam.

It's a lovely spot and it's lovely to see the water again, even if it's a dam.
It's a popular spot as they catch red claw here which are the inland version of a small lobster.

The weather is warming up again and it's expected to be in the low 30's next week.
Tomorrow we move on again as we are making our way to Bowen.....yay.....the coast!!

We have a couple of more stopovers first though.....looking forward to the salt water!!!!
